HENRY GILLAS JONES, son of Clayborn (Clabe) Jones, born August 15, 1861, in Knox
County, KY. , married Sarah Frances (Fannie) Proffitt, born February 7, 1875, in
Laurel County, KY. Fannie was the second
child of Thomas and Margaret Weaver Proffitt. Tom was a Baptist Preacher.
Gillas and Fannie were married on February 11, 1890. (Fannie was 15 and Gillas was 28) They lived
on a farm on Big Richland, Knox County, KY. Gillis died in November of 1897 at
the age of 35 of a heart attack. (His gravesite is unknown.) I have found his name listed as Gillis, Gillas, Gillus, Gill, Henry, H.G. and he signed his marriage certificate as Gillous. They had four children:

Born November 26, 1890, in Knox County, KY. Belle married Thomas Peter Corey, born July 15, 1886, in Knox County, KY., on September 25, 1910. Tom is the son of Johnny
and Anna Jarvis Corey. They had nine children:

(2) CHARLES COREY, born March 12,
1913, in Boring, KY., married Bucilla Baker, born May 4, 1922, in Gray, KY., on
December 24, 1940. Charles worked in Rochester, MI. as a tool-dye maker.
Bucilla was killed on November 23, 1968, in Monroe Michigan by a train and is buried in Corbin, KY. Charles married Cornelia Holder and they live in Loretto,
TN (as of 1986). Charles and Bucilla had two children:

November 3, 1942, in Detroit, MI., married Marjorie Tittle, from Dearborn, MI.,
on October 19, 1963. Thomas retired from the United States Air Force. They had

Joseph Dutton Jones was born December 6, 1892, in Knox County, KY., married Maud
Corey, born January 27, 1897, in Knox Co., KY. Dutton died in the Corbin
Hospital in January of 1946 of a heart attack. He is buried in the
Barbourville Cemetery, Barbourville, KY. Dutton and Maud had eight children:

(2)ANNA JONES, born April 6, 1918
in Knox, Co., Ky., married Casey Shirley Greene, born February 10, 1915,
Wilton, Ky. Casey Shirley Greene’s name was placed in the cornerstone of Burnett Av Pavilion Jewish Hospital, December 1969.
He was honored for the outstanding work he had performed in Instrument Control
Technician for the Jewish Hospital for 17 years. He worked for 23 years in the
same capacity for Standard Oil Co. He is now retired for five years. They live in
Edgewood, KY., and have one daughter:

Shirley Ann married Ronald M. Wilson born
November 24, 1940, in Kenton Co, KY. Shirley Ann directs presentations for the
Latonia Baptist Church broadcast on Cable TV each month. She teaches Senior
High in Kenton Co., KY. Ron is a Bible School teacher and teaches classes for
Cable TV also. He is a market engineer for Melecron. They both are graduates of
Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, KY.

(3) ARNOLD JONES, born May 2, 1919,
in Knox Co., Ky., married Sophie Mihalik, born in 1920. Arnold passed away
December of 1982, from a heart attack. They had three daughters:

Technology. Sandra Ann is presently working as a referral real estate agent for
ReMax real estate co. They attend Silverwood Tabernacle where Steve is a deacon
and the Song and Praise director. He is also very active with the Full Gospel
Business Men's Fellowship. Sandra is the church pianist and teaches the Teen
Sunday School class, and is the director of the Ladies Ensemble. They live in
Shawnee Mission, KS., and have four children:

Disease and is buried at the Barbourville Cemetery. Sue and Desi had one child:

3. WILLIAM EUGENE KIDD (Billy), born
January 7, 1955, in Knox County, KY. Bill is unmarried and lives in Dallas,
Texas where he is employed by I. Miller Shoe Corp. and Debenham of England. He is the buyer and manager of the I. Miller Shoe Salon, North Park Center,
Dallas, Texas.
For many years, Fern's husband, Gene Kidd, and his brother, Paul, owned and operated Kidd
Brothers Grocery Store on the Square in Barbourville, KY. Gene and Fern and
their children were very active in the First Pentecostal Church, Main Street.
They are now living in Shawnee Missions, KS., where Gene works in Video Sales
and Fern manages for the DuVall’s Ladies Specialty Shoppe on the County Club
Plaza, Kansas City, MO. They are active in the Silverwood Tabernacle where Fern
is a member of the Ladies Ensemble.
Maud
married Rev. Aaron Cupp in 1949. Maud died September 2, 1972, from lung cancer
and is buried at the Barbourville Cemetery. Rev. Cupp passed away in August of
1985 in Corbin, KY.

3-WILLIAM THOMAS JONES
(Will T.), born January 19, 1895, Knox County, KY., married
Effie Black, born May 16, 1897, in August 1917. Effie was the daughter of
Samuel and Ellen Parrott Black of Knox County. Will worked for the L & M
and C & M Railroads in Corbin and Manchester, KY. Effie died in 1935 at only 38 years of age. They had 5 children:

MAGGIE B. JONES, born March 28, 1918, in Knox
County married James Robert McSpadden, born April 27, 1909, in Jefferson City,
TN, on February 7, 1948, in Harlan, KY. He worked as a manager of Greene Motor
Company for many years and served in the Army Air Core in World War II. He went
to Maryville College in Tennessee and he also attended college in Tulsa, OK.
They have been living in Knoxville, TN for 25 years now where he works as a
grocery manager. Maggie attended the Louisville College of Beauty in 1946. They
had two children:
1. PATRICIA KAY MCSPADDEN, born October 13, 1949, in Benham, KY., was
killed in a car accident with Maggie’s brother, S.H. on September 7, 1958. She
is buried at Harlan, KY.

JAMES ROBERT MCSPADDEN, JR., born April 27, 1953, in Benham, KY. He is single
and lives in Knoxville, TN.
(2) SAMUEL HAYWOOD JONES (S.H.),
born February 8, 1920, in Knox County, married Claricy Ford, born August 20,
1921, in Knox County. They had two children:
1. DONNA LYNETTE
JONES, born July 14, 1941, and

LARRY WAYNE JONES, born July 27, 1945
Both children, their mother (Claricy), and
Patricia Kaye McSpadden were killed in an automobile accident on September 7,
1958. They are buried at the Barbourville Cemetery, Barbourville, KY. As of this writing, S.H.
lives alone in Harlan, KY.
(3) JAMES CECIL JONES SR., born in
Knox County, KY., on March 7, 1922, married Barbara Ball, born August 8, 1933,
from Harlan, KY., on May 22, 1950. Cecil works for the Post Office. They moved
from Harlan, KY., to Corbin, KY., in 1984. They have three children:
1. CECILIA JEAN JONES, born
February 6, 1952, in Harlan, KY.

LINDA ANNETTE JONES, born April 8, 1956, in Harlan, KY., married Jerry Ray
Blanton, born September 25, 1955, in Harlan, CO., on April 19, 1974. They live
in Coldiron, KY., (Harlan Co.), and have one child:

Eula and Roy were divorced and Eula
married Walter Andrews, Walter is a sawmill operator. They had one child:

January 28, 1956, in St. Catherine, Ontario Canada. Judy graduated from
Cumberland College in Williamsburg, KY. She is single and teaches school in
Gray, KY.
Eula and Walter were divorced and
she married Jesse Miller. Jesse passed away 13 months after they were married.
Eula Fae is now living in Corbin, KY.
(5) CLAUDE JONES, born April 8,
1926, in Barbourville, Ky., was killed in Germany on March 2, 1945, not long
after he entered the W.S. Army in World War II. Claude is buried in the
Barbourville Cemetery.
Effie Black Jones died November 13 or 15, 1935, in Harlan,
KY.
After Effie's death in 1935, Will T. married Dovie McFarland Johnson, born August 2, 1901, in Harlan,
KY., on May 23, 1942. Dovie’s first husband, A. C. Johnson also died in 1935.
Will T. worked as a clerk for the L and N Railroad and was a member of the
Church of God. Dovie is a member of the Baptist Church. Dovie is a graduate of
Eastern Kentucky University, in Richmond, KY. She has spent 41 years in the
Kentucky school systems, serving as a teacher, principal, and director of pupil
personnel. Dovie has had many of her poems published in magazines throughout
the country. She has one book of poetry published and is presently working on
her second. She retired from the school system in 1964. Since that time she has
served as a volunteer in the Baptist Pavilion at the 1982 World’s Fair in
Knoxville, TN., and as a volunteer for two and a half months at the Carver
Baptist Center in New Orleans, LA., working with the children along the
riverfront. Will died July 12, 1972, of a heart attack resulting from a fall
from a ladder. In the fall of 1985, she moved to the Parkhurst Manor Retirement
Center in Morristown, TN.

Charley Butler Jones was born December 21, 1896, in Knox County, KY. He married Samantha
Rose Partin, born June 23, 1904, daughter of W.H. Partin and Nannie Jane
Elliott, of Knox County, KY., on March 8, 1922.
Charley served in the Navy in World War I. For many years
after, he owned and operated a filling station and grocery store at the corner
of Manchester and College Street in Barbourville, KY. They were very active in
the First Pentecostal Church on Main Street, Barbourville. They had six
children:
(1) NELL MARIE JONES, born November
19, 1922, in Barbourville, KY., married William Estel Smith, born March 24,
1918, of Gray, KY., on August 23, 1945. Bill and Nell live in East Detroit,
MI., where they worked at Chrysler until their retirement. They attend the
Church of God. They have two children:

25, 1946, in Detroit, MI. Joe Paul
married Shirley Clevenser in 1977 and they had one child:

Rose Partin Jones died October 7, 1968, in Barbourville,
KY., of Sugar Diabetes. Charley married Rachel Partin. Charley died on January
15, 1972 from complications due to a car accident they had in Tifton, GA., while on their way to Florida. Rachel survived the accident. Their estate is now a part
of Union College, College Street, Barbourville. They are buried at the Barbourville
Cemetery.
After the death of Gillas Jones, Fannie married James Haywood Jones, born June 30, 1876, in Knox County KY. James is the son of John
G. and Lucy Hammons Jones.

Sarah Frances (Fannie) Proffitt Jones died June 18, 1941, in Detroit,
Michigan, of Diabetes. She is buried at the Barbourville Cemetery. James H. Jones
died on October 7, 1962, and is buried beside Frances.
